ผู้คนมากมายซึ่งต่างไม่ปรารถนาจะให้พระราชาออกผนวช พากันยื่นข้อเสนอมากมาย แต่พระองค์ไม่ได้ทรงยินดีกับสิ่งเหล่านั้น ยังคงมีพระทัยมุ่งมั่นที่จะเสด็จออกบรรพชาให้ได้ พระองค์ทรงแสดงธรรมให้เข้าใจว่า "ชีวิตนี้ถูกชรานำเข้าไป เป็นของน้อยนิด ดุจน้ำที่อยู่ในโคลน เมื่อชีวิตเป็นของน้อยเหลือเกินเช่นนี้ เวลานี้ไม่ใช่เวลาที่จะประมาท
